This elaborate home was built in 1925 by Ralph Rollins, owner of Rollins Hosiery Mills. The Rollins family spared no expense when they designed the home, including 16th-century ship beams, ceiling beams from the inn where William Shakespeare performed, and stained glass designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Host your event in this historical yet elegant space that is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Ballroom
The largest of the upper-level rooms, the Ballroom is generally used for receptions. A large bay window sits at the far end of the room, overlooking the Octagon Garden.
The Library
There’s nothing quite like the quiet beauty of bookshelves and a fireplace. Intimate and elegant, the Library boasts an impressive collection of books and trinkets, features intricate carvings in the moldings and door frames, and is perfect for a quiet and secluded moment.
The Solarium
With stunning stained glasses windows overlooking the gardens, the naturally lit space of the Solarium can only be described as bright and welcoming. Commonly used as a bar area, it’s sure to see lots of visitors stop by.
The Royal Oak Room
The Royal Oak Room is perfect for mingling, with its Goldilocks size. Not too big, and not too small, grab a drink from the Solarium and make your way here to enjoy your beverage while enjoying the view.
The Breakfast Nook
Although seemingly unassuming, the Breakfast Nook can be whatever you make of it—maybe a kid’s room, a dessert bar, or a coat check desk? The possibilities are endless for this side room.
The Butler's Pantry
Sometimes, you just need an extra room to breathe, leave jackets, or to hide a little surprise… or whatever else you need. The Butler’s Pantry is hidden away, tucked back into a little corner, so if you need the element of surprise on your side, this room has your back.
The Terrace
On the upper level, the Terrace is definitely the star of the show. With its dazzling view of the downtown Des Moines skyline and wide-open space, the only limit on what this space could be is your imagination.
The Cottage Bridal Suite
On your big day, you’re going to want a place to get ready, store your personal effects, and maybe escape to use the bathroom. The Cottage is here for you and your squad, with a Bridal Suite (and several restrooms) that’s ready and waiting for you on the happiest day of your life.
The Courtyard
Did somebody say dance party? Boogie it all out in the Courtyard, which can be found just off the Terrace by the Cottage. Tthe Courtyard is flexible and adaptable to whatever you need it to be, whether that’s a dance floor, an outdoor bar, or just a separate place to mingle.
The Great Hall
The Great Hall has is perfect for large events and receptions. It boasts a wide open space that can be transformed into whatever you need, easy access to restrooms, and proximity to the kitchens for meals.
The Rectangular Gardens
The refined multi-tier gardens feature an elegant marble fountain, a serene reflecting pool, and a classically maintained green space. Our gardens offer both the beauty of a formal garden setting, and the relaxed elegance of a lush green space.

Go wild with the possibilities in the warmth of the Lodge. Adjacent to the Lodge, the Bar is sure to be a popular spot with its widescreen TV and fully functional bar setup. Stop by for a drink and a chat during your event to relax and unwind.

The Sunroom and Parlor rooms, just off the Great Hall area, are the perfect locations to set up a dessert bar or a few tables for mingling. Here would also be a fantastic place to display photos, trinkets, and whatever else your heart desires during your big event.
